Keep Bugs Away From Your Home

Updated Friday, July 6, 2018  ::  Views (754)

Most people don’t enjoy having bugs as house guests. To help keep those pesky insects outside instead of in, here are a few tricks that might do the job.

Keep a clean home
With regular dusting, vacuuming and washing all surfaces of your house, it helps achieve a bug- free home. Be sure to sweep up; crumbs can attract bugs. Also get rid of piles of paper, and newspapers etc. since they can attract certain bugs like cockroaches. They love the smell of paper!

Out and about
Check the exterior of your home for cracks in the foundation, holes in eavestroughs and make sure window screens fit tightly, are in good shape and free of holes or tears. Seal any openings you find around the home with the appropriate weatherproofing material.

Try natural remedies
Sprinkling cinnamon around the house is a great way to keep bugs out. You can also try sprinkling it in your child’s sandbox to help keep it bug-free. Some herbs are also good for preventing insects from getting in your home. Plant fragrant herbs around both the front and back doors of your house. Consider catnip, lemongrass, mint, citronella, and basil. Using essential oils to ward off insects is another great natural remedy. Make a solution with water, witch hazel and your choice of essential oils like peppermint, lavender, lemon, lemongrass and cedar wood. Put it into a spray bottle and spritz away.
Try these simple ways to help get the bugs out and have them stay out!
